Please support Dave & Ali raise vital funds to help people with Mesothelioma live better & live longer!
Nearly 9 years ago, on the eve of our daughters 6th birthday, we had the worst news of our life, Dave was diagnosed with mesothelioma! We had never heard of mesothelioma, Dave has never knowingly been exposed to asbestos, yet very soon we learnt Mesothelioma is a terminal cancer with typically 12-18 months to live!
Fast forward to today, minus 1 lung, various cancer treatment, constant scans & hospital visits we want to:
1) Raise awareness: Asbestos is the UK's biggest work related killer! 1.5 million buildings in the UK still contain asbestos! Asbestos is the invisible killer lurking in 80% of all UK schools & 94% of hospital trusts. The UK has the highest incidence of mesothelioma in the world with c2700 people diagnosed each year.
2) Beat the 15k we raised with Dave’s 1 lung, 100 miles cycling challenge in 2017 and give those funds directly to Mesothelioma UK, an incredible charity supporting us and many others
3) Celebrate and thank our amazing family, friends, our fabulous Mesothelioma consultants and nurses
Thus, we are hosting a charity Mesothelioma Ball on October 12th!
We have been overwhelmed with people’s response and have the last few tables to fill! Yet we are also very grateful as so many people have very kindly said they cannot make the Ball, but would like to donate – so hence this page!
When you hear those words that you have cancer, then that it is a terminal cancer, you want a specialist care team to support you. Mesothelioma UK is the national charity for anyone affected by mesothelioma, a preventable cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. They exist to support people with mesothelioma to live better and live longer and to prevent mesothelioma happening to future generations. They do this by advocating for better treatment and care, enhancing quality of life, supporting research and amplifying the patient’s voice.
Thus, if you are able to donate, no matter how small, this will be very much appreciated. Thank you!
