Story
Various family members, club members and friends will be supporting the Darby Rimmer Foundation March of the Day 2 from Wembley Stadium to Ipswich Town FC from March 21-23 2025. It’s a 176 mile route, raising awareness and funds for crucial MND research and care. Walkers can choose a single 3/5 mile stage or as much daytime walking as they wish.*
Dave will be pushed or driven (depending on choice of wheelchair!) at some stage on all 3 days. Green Army members will also be present throughout the March, often in stages connected to their favourite clubs, many of which will be welcoming walkers at their stadium along with club legends. We will be visiting 27 clubs in total!
Diagnosed with MND in 2012, Dave can no longer use his hands, arms or legs. He is a life-long member, player and official of Reigatians AFC in Surrey, who have been great supporters of his fundraising and campaigning efforts, as have friends from different areas of his life. He believes he is fortunate to have a slowly progressive version of the brutal condition as 50% of those diagnosed have a prognosis of only c2 years.
South Nutfield, in Surrey, has always been very supportive of Dave's fundraising and campaigning efforts and several villagers will be joining the effort.
We'll also be remembering Kevin Mutton, a big Crystal Palace fan with many friends in our village, who sadly died at the age of 37 in 2023.
For this event, he wants to give particular thanks to Aura Life (Paul), DWD Property and Investments (Dave and Mark), Camp Glide (Andy), Europa Partners (Jan), London Reporting House (Danny) My Club (Neil) and Welling United (the 2 Marks) for their generous sponsorship of stages and core team members.
