Story
On Sunday 17th September I’ll be running the Sydney Marathon, and raising some funds for charity.
Some of you will know that my dad battled with multiple myeloma (bone marrow cancer) for 20years. Sadly, in 2020, he passed away. Never one to complain, dad was always grateful for the care he received over those 20 years.
In memory of him, I’ve selected two very worthy causes:
1. Haematology Cancer Care – Part of UCLH Hospital charity in London, they provide medical equipment, nurses education and patient care. They looked after dad for those 20years!
2. Myeloma Australia - they support, educate, inform and support patients across Australia with Myeloma.
As I'm running a fundraising evening in Sydney on Thursday 7th September, I'll be splitting the donations across both charities.
Any donation is greatly appreciated!!
Some info about the charity:
We have a strong community of patients, families and staff committed to supporting haematological cancers through fundraising activities and events. Uniquely, we are run by senior clinical staff working closely with all haematology teams and haematology patients ensuring donations make a significant impact on the services here at UCLH.
We provide wide-ranging support including high-tech medical equipment and research projects, free complementary therapy for patients and families and specialist education for nurses across five inpatient wards, day-care, ambulatory care and young adult and outpatient services
