David Lloyd Shawfair Fundraiser for Astro Brain Tumour Fund

In May 2024 at 22 years old, Archie Goodburn, one of our staff, Scott Gibson’s best friend and swimming team mate at Edinburgh University was diagnosed with 3 Oligodendrogliomas, an incurable form of brain cancer. Archie is born and raised in Edinburgh and has represented both Scotland at the 2022 Commonwealth in Birmingham alongside Scott and Great Britain at European Championships and World Junior championships.
In April, 1 month prior to his diagnosis, Archie narrowly missed out on the Team GB Paris 2024 Olympics team in his main event, 100m breaststroke by a few tenths of a second, finishing third at Olympic Qualifiers behind Britains fastest 2 breastrokers in history, Adam Peaty and James Wilby.
Despite this diagnosis, Archie is determined to not let this get the better of him and still has his sights set on training and qualifying for Team GB in 2028 for the Los Angeles Olympics alongside battling his 3 brain tumours.
At David Lloyd Shawfair, to raise money for Astro Brain Tumour Fund we will be organising 5-A-side Charity Football, along with a live DJ and other events over the coming weeks
