Story
On Friday, November 29th, 2024, Worcester resident, David Filar, will embark on a four-day, 154-mile road run across the entire state of Massachusetts, starting at the New York border in West Stockbridge, MA, making pit stops in Huntington, Palmer, and Shrewsbury, and ultimately finishing in Boston at the Martin's Park.
Averaging just under 40 miles per day (a marathon is 26.2 miles), this route seems to have only been attempted or completed by two or three other people. Dave is pushing himself to the limits to raise awareness and funds for patients at UMass Memorial Children’s Medical Center. The funds will be used to purchase toys for the children who will be spending the holidays at the hospital.
Dave is extremely grateful for his partnerships that are supporting the run. UMass Children's Medical for loving the idea and willingness to provide energy and support. Thank you to PYNRS, a Boston based performance running brand for outfitting Dave and doing incredible work for local running communities. Thank you to local pickle company, Grillo's Pickles, for fueling Dave with one of the best foods on the planet. And Thank you to the support of Gary Vaynerchuck's Veefriends characters which embody his mindset and spirit of giving, kindness, and gratitude.
To Dave's family, his partner, film and documentary crew (Owen Zubek and Sam Wagner), and Cornershop Communications - thank you. To everyone who donates: you all mean the world and have made this so much easier for me.

ABOUT: A Polish-born, globally recognized footwear designer and creative director by trade, Dave is also a public speaker, artist, and the host of the podcast “An Untold Narrative”. He has worked with brands like Nike, Patagonia, NASA, the US Military, and a multitude of celebrities and athletes around the world. But what really drives him is finding his own personal limits whilst supporting causes that are close to his heart and his community. Making the world a better place one literal step at a time.
“Over the past few years, I’ve been trying to break down my own mental, physical, and emotional barriers to see how far I can push myself. Grounded in the idea that our health is number one, and being grateful to be able to move every day, I want to give back and support children who need to spend their holidays in the hospital. Who wouldn’t donate 15 dollars to watch someone trek 154 miles across a state and be able to put a smile on a kid's face at the same time?” - DF
No stranger to fundraising, Dave knows just how to bring the community together for a common humanitarian goal. In 2020, he raised $3,616.30 to donate to the Equal Justice Initiative to continue fighting against racial injustice and protecting human rights. In 2023, he ran 12 miles for each of the first 12 days in December to raise money for Connecticut Children's Hospital—raising $2,921.00 (358 toys) for children during last year's holidays.
