Walking the length of Great Britain at 80 to fight Alzheimers' Disease

David Ensor is raising money for Alzheimer's Research UK
In memory of Susan

Walking 1,200 miles from John o' Groats to Lands End

We stand for everyone affected by dementia to find a cure

Story

My name is David Ensor, I'm 80 years old.

Three years ago, my wife Susan died of Alzheimer's, after a long and brutal struggle.

I'm going to walk 1200 miles, down the length of Britain, from John O'Groats to Lands End to raise money to fight this terrible disease. I've already raised £17'000 in offline donations, but am determined to reach £76'000, the age Susan was when she died.

The walk will not be easy for me, particularly at my age, but I am determined to do it.

Alzheimer's is a terrible disease, both for the sufferer but also for the carers. There is, as yet, no cure, but there is hope if we can fund the scientific research that is so necessary, and that's why I am asking for your help and support.

Every 3 minutes dementia steals a happily ever after. Research is our only chance of changing the ending for people affected by dementia.

Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK's leading dementia research charity. They exist for a cure.

Your donation helps their scientists and researchers find new ways to diagnose dementia, develop new treatments and find a cure for dementia.

I have been doing long distance walks almost all of my life, and all over the world, but I've never tried something so difficult as this, but I am determined to complete it.

One in two of us will be affected by dementia in our lifetime. Accelerating investment in research is the only answer.

Alzheimer’s Research UK is at the forefront of this research. All funds raised will go to Alzheimer's Research UK.
