Story
Head Up is a new UK charity that was set up by four veterans. Their mission is to help serving and former Forces personnel build a positive mindset and increase their mental resilience. The charity envisions a world where the increasing number of suicides within the military community can be stemmed by empowering individuals to turn things around before their issues become life-threatening.
To achieve this, Head Up Charity aims to create a unique, holistic countryside retreat that removes the existing barriers to getting the right help. The retreat will offer seven-day residential courses, providing personalized mental-health support for serving and retired members from all services of the Armed Forces. It will specifically target those at risk of falling through the cracks in current provision.
Unlike traditional military environments, the retreat will have a non-militarized atmosphere. There will be no triggering Forces paraphernalia, photographs, uniforms, or hierarchies. Instead, guests will find themselves in a calm, natural, and luxurious environment that helps them feel welcome and valued.
We are currently fundraising for Head Up Charity through our participation in the Montane Winter Spine Challenger South 2025 event. This charity appeal event is scheduled for January 11th, 2025.
Our goal is to raise £3,200 to support the establishment and operation of this much-needed retreat. With your generous contribution, we can make a real difference in the lives of those who have served our country.
Just like last year, Martin Ardolino is supporting me not just with my physio therapy but also a key player in my fund raising. If it wasn't for him last year, I wouldn't have finished the event let alone reach our target of £2000.
Join us both in supporting Head Up Charity and together let's create a brighter future for our brave servicemen and women.
