Story
I am running the Helsinki City Marathon 2026 to raise money for Rett UK!
I first became aware of Rett syndrome when my mum started providing weekend respite care for Niamh (both pictured above). Over the past few years, we've come to be friends with Niamh and her family, and so I thought this marathon was a good opportunity to raise some funds for this very worthy (and under-supported) cause.
Rett syndrome is devastating for a family. Having suspected something was not quite be right, suddenly they are told their child will be profoundly disabled, with multiple health problems including epilepsy, a curved spine, breathing problems, feeding difficulties and gut/bowel issues.
Rett UK is there to pick up the pieces; emotional support, high quality, accurate advice & information, advocacy, reducing isolation, empowering families, building emotional resilience and helping the person with Rett syndrome live a life worth living.
Anything you can give will be hugely appreciated by Rett UK and the families they support.
THANK YOU!
