in the year of my 60th I have decided to mark the event with 12 physical challenges in the 12 months of 2024. Something like the 12 labours of Heracles, or Hercules, depending if you are Roman or Greek... but there are 12 of them, 1 a month for 2024.

I have now done 6 of them but there are another 6 to go so half way! The list is set out below. The next one is a big one, a swim across the Solent, the stretch of water between the UK mainland and the Isle of Wight.

All of this is being done for the charity associated with the Solent swim (see below), a charity called Aspire

On the 28th July 2024 I will be swimming between the UK mainland and the Isle of Wight. This is an organised event so I will be having help to dodge the oil tankers and freight ships as well as the odd rogue jet ski.

It's in the region of 2.5 to 3 miles depending on the tides so a bit of a challenge but something I should be able to do?

The Charity Aspire provides practical help to people who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury, supporting them from injury to independence. I thank my lucky stars on a daily basis that I am fit and healthy and able to live my life the way I want to. I can't imagine what I would be like if I couldn't have all the adventures and do all the activities in the way I can currently. I am a lucky chap!
