Story
I am running during the month of August to raise funds for M.E. Research UK.
My sister has severe M.E. Before she became ill she loved dancing, netball, drama and was always active. She now has to spend all day in bed.
I want to raise money to show my support for my amazing sister 💙 and to help towards more research that is so badly needed.
Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) is a complex multi-system disease with chronic, debilitating symptoms. The most common symptoms are post- exertional malaise (worsening of symptoms upon even minimal exertion), unrefreshing sleep, profound fatigue, cognitive impairment, orthostatic intolerance, and pain.
"...doctors do not treat us and science does not study us. How could a disease this common and this devastating have been forgotten by medicine?" Jennifer Brea
Only biomedical research can find the causes of ME/CFS, improve diagnosis and treatment, and, ultimately, arrive at a cure. That’s why research is our focus.
We've awarded 64 full grants and 5 PhD-level awards since 2000 and invested over £3.5million. But research is expensive and becoming more so every day. That’s the challenge we face, and that’s why we need your help.
