Story
I support Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity because they support my family. My daughter Harriet, was diagnosed with a neurodivergent condition when she was 2. Due to her condition, Harriet lives with epilepsy. When Harriet was first diagnosed, as a family, we did not know where to turn or if there was any support for us. Fortunately, we found Roald Dahl’s charity and from that day, they have supported us through our journey.
The nurses have been on hand to provide support and information when we have been unsure. We can contact them via phone or email which has prevented additional trips to A&E or our local doctors.
My personal journey starting in May 2022 when I had never run properly before and was very overweight, I decided to commit myself to challenges to help raise funds for this amazing charity. To date I have completed a 10km Inflatable Fun Run in August 2022, a 10km race in December 2022. I am currently preparing for the Great South Run (10 miles) in October 2023. The London Marathon is a running challenge I never imagined I would be doing however, I am doing this for my daughter and the Marvellous Charity who support us.
Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity provides specialist nurses and support for children living with complex medical conditions. There are currently over 100 Roald Dahl Nurses caring for over 32,000 seriously ill children across the UK. We also provide support in other ways, helping to improve the resilience of families who find life very tough.
The dedication and expertise of Roald Dahl Nurses reduces A&E visits, hospital admissions, and consultant appointments. They are a vital life-line to the whole family, coordinating care, and providing access to high quality emotional support.
Roald Dahl Nurses are highly trained, senior professionals who can ‘make things happen’ both in the hospital and the wider community setting such as with schools or GPs.
