Story
We're raising money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity in memory of Dave Sherwin.
Dave was our Dad, Grandad, Husband and Friend and he bravely battled various forms of cancer for over 17 years of his life. Throughout that time, there were many ups and downs, times when the cancer would retreat and some sense of normality ensued. Other, tougher times when the cancer would return in some form resulting in the need for further care and treatment.
During those tougher times, one thing remained consistent and that was Dave's appreciation of the excellent care he received from The Royal Masden. When treatment was needed and calls had to be made, Dave was visually more relaxed once The Royal Masden had taken over his treatment.
When Dave died in October 2023, one of his wishes was for donations to be made to The Royal Marsden. We wanted to do a little more in his memory.
A group of us have entered two events in a bid to raise as much money as possible so that other people can continue to benefit from the same excellent care that Dave received.
Event 1:
A big group of Dave's friends and family have signed up for the Banham Marsden March taking place on the 12th May. This is a 15-mile walk between The Royal Marsden Hospitals from Chelsea to Sutton. Read more about the event here: https://march.royalmarsden.org/event/marsden-march/
Event 2:
Four members of Dave's family will also be running the Worthing Half Marathon in his memory on the 28th of April in a bid to raise even more money for this worthy cause.
We hope that taking on these two challenging events, will inspire more people to dig deep and donate what they can to this worthy cause.
