Story

As a lot of you will know, my Mum Fran passed away on the 20th of December. She was diagnosed with Huntington's Disease around 11 years ago and bravely battled against the effects that it had on her.

In order to raise awareness, I am taking part in Odds and Socks Day this year where I am going to hunt for the most random odd socks I can find to wear on the 27th of February.

Huntington’s disease is an illness caused by a faulty gene in your DNA - the biological ‘instructions’ you inherit which tell your cells what to do. Huntington’s disease is not something you can catch; it is inherited. Every child conceived naturally to a parent who carries the Huntington’s gene has a 50% chance of inheriting it.

The Huntington's Disease association supported my Mum, sister and I as we went through the journey of the disease developing. They do some great work but need more help financially to help more families like ours. If you can spare a little bit in order to help and share to raise awareness, it would be really appreciated.
