Story
On Sunday 16 July, deeserve are joining #Donate4Dementia – an award-winning dementia initiative – by sending our very own Darren Wilders to take the 40mph Zipwire Challenge!
This amazing programme, run in partnership with Forget-Me-Notts and local sporting venues, has won the Health and Wellbeing Award at the Celebrating Rushcliffe Awards, and has been named Community Group of the Year by Active Notts.
#Donate4Dementia provides free café sessions at Trent Bridge, as well as sports sessions at Rushcliffe Arena and Edwalton Golf Club. The funds raised will make a real difference to the lives of hundreds of people in Nottinghamshire every week.
Forget-Me-Notts provides mentally and physically stimulating activities for those with dementia, and importantly, a truly vital support network for carers.
Living with dementia is disorienting and scary, and can totally rob people of their agency and sense of self. Watching a loved one succumb to it is heartbreaking – like watching them fade away in slow motion. Caring for someone with dementia is a challenge that only ever gets harder – and it can become isolating and all-consuming.
That’s why this work is so valuable – and why we’re committed to taking part, donating as much as we possibly can.
