Story
2013 I completed my only marathon and claimed I would not do another but I AM !
Five years ago my family began a journey that has shaped us in ways we could not have imagined. In raising money for Young Minds I am hoping other families can have a better journey.
I have three daughters, all wonderful and unique in their own way. My wife and I are immensely proud of each of them. Like any other parent, when they need help, support or a shoulder to cry on we want to be there, we want to makes things right but.....What if you can't make it right ? What if your GP can't help ? What if your child doesn't want to be here anymore ? .....What then ?
A quarter of 17-year-old girls have self-harmed in the last year while suicide remains the single biggest killer of boys and young men. The NHS cant cope and so charities like Young Minds have become critical in supporting young people and parents.
YoungMinds is the UK's leading charity championing the wellbeing and mental health of children and young people. Driven by their experience, YoungMinds creates change so that children and young people can cope with life's adversities, find help when needed and succeed in life.
As my youngest daughter leaves high school we feel able to share our journey, which continues, and the best way we could think of doing that is to create awareness and raise money at the same time.
8th October 2023, I will aim to complete the Chester marathon for the second time and since any challenge needs a target I aim to beat my time of 4.33 from ten years ago to raise money for the Charity Young Minds. Thank you for your support.
