Barneys 24hr Mall March Challenge for The Wallace and Gromit Grand Appeal, 13 December 2024
We support Bristol Children's Hospital to save lives & support sick children

Story

Barney was born with 2X holes in his heart and underwent life saving surgery at the Bristol Children’s Hospital just before his first birthday. It’s thanks to the Hospital that he is a happy and healthy 10 year old and lives the quality of life that he has today we’re eternally grateful. I’m sure many others have similar stories of thanks to this wonderful establishment that we’re so lucky to have ❤️

By means of repayment, each festive period he likes to fundraise to buy top of the range gaming equipment for the Hospital that saved his life and help the current patients and their families take their minds off of the day to day life of undergoing treatment and hopefully make them happy 😃

Barney has raised £10,000 in the past 4 years to help sick and disadvantaged kids and this year is no exception. He also has the added pressure of being awarded Bristols overall young hero of 2024, in recognition of his fundraising efforts along with becoming a finalist at The BBC Make A Difference Awards for 'fundraiser of the year'.

Barney understands that with privilege comes responsibility and he’s determined to use his position to his advantage and really make a difference - by raising the profile of the Wallace and Gromit's Grand Appeal charity and raising as much cash as he possibly can for the cause that’s so close to his heart.

Last year Barney completed a 12 hour midnight walk around London and this year he wants to double his challenge to make it even tougher by undertaking a 24 hour walk around the Mall at Cribbs and hopefully raise even more

Barneys thoughts on this challenge are “I mean, it is going to be a tough one but we’re grateful for the support from The Mall at Cribbs for allowing us to use their facility. I’m hoping that we really do a great job and make a big difference to the patients treatment at the hospital”

It will start at 10am on 13th December and end at 10am on the 14th December. People are welcome to come along and do a couple of laps and cheer him on, we’d really love it 😊

This will surpass any challenge to date in terms of physicality and endurance. 24 hours awake is hard enough for an adult, let alone a 10 year old child who will also be walking near enough non-stop.

So once again, we really would appreciate your support, shares and donations. They really do help spur him over the line!

This year we have also paired up with the Wallace and Gromit's Grand Appeal’s JustGiving page so every pound you donate receives gift aid to make the grand total even higher!
