Story
I have decided to take on the brutal challenge of completing Ironman Wales, renowned as one of the toughest in the world on the Ironman calendar! The event takes place on the 22nd September 2024 in the beautiful town of Tenby, Pembrokeshire.
A hugely demanding challenge, both physically and mentally, the course starts with a 2.4 mile sea swim, followed by a very hilly 112 miles on the bike, and finishes with a 26.2 run, yes a marathon!
With no previous triathlon experience, this is a massive task to take on, but one I'm determined to complete. Training started in September 2023, initially it was very tough as I hadn't done much physical activity for nearly 10 year! The winter months were hard, cold dark mornings and wintery evenings. Training 6 days a week, making time for my family and running my own business has been a juggle at times but I'm very lucky to have a very supportive family who have been with me every step of this epic journey.
Initially it was a personal challenge that I set myself, but as the months have gone on I've had a lot of people asking me if I'm raising money for charity. So I've decided that along side my personal goal to become an ironman I will be raising money for Blood Bikes Wales.
Blood Bikes Wales is a 100% volunteer charity based in Wales, providing completely free courier service to the NHS, delivering blood samples, plasma, donated human milk, documents and other items all over Wales.
Blood Bikes Wales relies solely on volunteers and donations to offer this service, so any donations that you donate will be gratefully received.
