Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Please take time to read my story.
It was Bank Holiday Monday 2020 when I embarked on a what was meant to be a relaxing motorbike ride cruising around the Cambridgeshire countryside, a journey I never completed. I woke up at University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire to the news that I had been air ambulanced in following a serious road traffic accident and had my leg amputated as a result. On that day, and the days that followed, as I lay in the ECU and the further surgeries I required that I resolved that this life-changing incident would only bring positive changes to my life.
I have a deep love for the outdoors, and just a couple of years before my accident, I successfully completed the National 3 Peaks challenge. It was a grueling experience but one that made me feel truly alive.
Since lying in that hospital bed, I've yearned to find another challenge that could breathe new life into this broken body. I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to undertake this monumental trek. Life is meant to be lived, and I hope that the funds I raise can assist others in discovering challenges and purpose in life despite limb differences, through the valuable work of LimbPower.
LimbPower provides support to amputees like myself, individuals with limb differences, and their families. They help bridge the gap between hospital rehabilitation and community and school engagement, ultimately aiding in rebuilding lives and enhancing physical, social, and mental well-being.
