2024 London and Manchester Marathon for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity

London Marathon 2024 · 21 April 2024 ·
After applying and being successful, I am chuffed to say I will be running the 2024 London AND Manchester Marathon, in aid of the wonderful people at Manchester Children’s hospital. If running one marathon wasn’t enough, I have decided I will take on the even bigger challenge of running two. Two marathons which just so happen to take place just ONE WEEK apart (14th and 21st April 2024).
You may or may not know that a large part of the first year of my life was spent in Manchester Children’s Hospital, after suffering a respiratory arrest, leading to me having a tracheotomy fitted, until the age of 2. As a result of this, I was given a reduced chance of full cognitive and physical functioning.
However, as a direct result of the care, expertise and resources of the great people and the facilities at the Manchester Children’s Hospital, I have gone on to represent many sports teams, achieve both an undergraduate and post graduate degree, and begin to forge my own career within the NHS.
I would love nothing more to be able to do my bit and give back to a hospital that has given me so much. If you can chuck a few quid in to help me do this, I would be forever grateful. I fully appreciate times are tough at the moment for lots of people, and just by sharing this page on social media, at work or in a group chat, you would be doing me a massive favour in helping me achieve my fundraising goal.
All funds raised will go to the Manchester Children’s Hospital, within the Manchester Foundation Trust Charity.
Cheers,
Dan
A Message from the charity: Our mission is to support the excellence in treatment, research and care we provide to our patients at our family of 10 NHS hospitals in Manchester and Trafford, each and every day. We want to make a real difference to the people we treat young and old by making sure that they continue to receive the very best treatment in the very best facilities.
We do this by focusing our fundraising efforts on three key areas treatment, research and care. This can include the purchase of cutting-edge equipment, funding pioneering medical research and creating a patient-friendly environment allowing patients, and their families, to feel welcome and at ease during their time in hospital.
