Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As most of you know, I have been battling bowel cancer for nearly four years now (unfortunately, still ongoing and still on active chemotherapy) and I feel very passionate to raise as much money as possible for the wonderful work that the Shooting Star nurses and wider team do for their patients, day in, day out. This charity has been imperative to me since my diagnosis and because I have spent a lot of time there, I have really seen for myself the unconditional work they carry out.
This Sunday, some of my old university friends from Portsmouth, are going to dust off their trainers and attempt to play against the current students in a basketball game, we graduated over 10 years ago, so wish them luck. I can't be there, but they have kindly offered to raise money during the event in my name.
This will be the start of what I hope, will be a wider fundraiser, and I'll ask that others share this to help raise as much vital funds as possible in honor of too many lives affected by the big C!
There aren't enough words for me to express my thanks and appreciation to those who have helped us on this rollercoaster journey so far. Our family and friends have been our consistent light in the dark, along with our amazing NHS and my employer.
Without delving too deeply, I'll be heading into my 84th session of treatment soon, this has included 25 rounds of radiotherapy, 25 rounds of immunotherapy and 33 rounds of chemotherapy, and 1 major operation, leaving me with a permanent stoma. To say it has been mentally and physically life changing and challenging is an understatement, but it will never define me.
Anyway, you get the picture, let's raise some money for this great charity so they can keep looking after patients who are undoubtedly, going through an extremely difficult time.
Always keep your faith bigger than your fear.
Peace, love and positive vibes.
