Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In September 2019 during a routine appointment a doctor heard a slight murmur on George's heart, to be safe he was referred to a cardiologist for further examination. In early October 2019 we attended the cardiologists.
They preformed a 12 lead ECG which showed normal results, to make sure nothing was missed an ECO scan was then carried out, this is where everything changed for us all.
During this scan it was discovered that George had a condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (most commonly a thickening of the left ventilcle wall of the heart). George displayed this thickening, he also displayed thickening on the right side and the septum of his heart.
We were referred to Alder Hey children's hospital for further investigation and future treatment, we have now been visiting Alder hey every 3 to 6 months for regular tests. They have been absolutely fantastic with us all each and every time.
Recently, George's condition has developed and has now become even more serious. He will soon be undergoing a physical stress test to determine if surgical intervention will be needed next. Without this equipment at Alderhey, this test would not be possible.
As mentioned above I'm doing this for all they have done for OUR children, yes, unfortunately of Daughter Amelia is also at risk of developing this condition as we later found out it is genetic as I have also been diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
Alder hey now screen Amelia once a year to ensure that if she does develop any symptoms it will be discovered and can be monitored and treated if necessary.
Thank you very much for all your support.
