Story
We are raising money for KLS Support UK and hopefully the awareness of Kleine-Levin Syndrome (KLS).
KLS is a rare syndrome characterised by recurrent bouts of excessive sleep associated with reduced understanding of the world and altered behaviour.
KLS Support UK is a small charity offering help and support to those families affected by KLS.
Danielle's son fell unwell in 2011 and due to a lack of awareness by doctors of the illness it took until 2014 for him to obtain a proper diagnosis. He was eventually diagnosed by Dr. Arnulf, a world leading expert based in Paris. KLS Support UK helped her obtain the diagnosis and gave her the emotional support needed. Danielle later became a trustee of KLS Support UK. The charity offers a real lifeline to desperate families affected by this cruel syndrome and is doing a wonderful job at raising awareness and understanding among all areas of the health profession.
Danielle and Jeni are running from London to Paris over 8 days along the Avenue Verte, a 420km cycle route. Once they reach Paris they will collect their race bids and attempt to run the Paris Marathon on day 9. Jeni suggested that we should use our adventure for a good cause and then gracefully agreed to help raise money and awareness of KLS.
