Thank you for taking your time to open this page.
Alfie, our beautiful lil man passed away on 14/09/08. His cause of death was classified as SUDEP (sudden unexpected death in epilepsy). I put him to bed at normal time, and 2 hours later he had passed away.
4 days after Alfie was born, he started to have seizures and was rushed into hospital, over the next few days he would go onto experience many seizures, and one day had over 20 episodes. He was administered anti seizures medication and this was effective.
Alfie did not have any more seizures, until the night of his passing. There was no warning, nothing alerted us that this was going to happen. We never got to say goodbye, never understanding why this happened.
I suffered for many years in what felt like silence, pain, anguish, anger, guilt and not knowing how to deal with my grief. I shut my feelings out, and I felt cold for so long.i kept all my memories of Alfie shut away at the back of brain, fearing that if I was to talk about him my memories would fade away with those words.
I wish that at that time in my life, I was offered services like SUDEP Action.
SUDEP Action , provide services to people and families that can help them in their time of grief. Support them in ways that I did not know about at the time my son passed away. They also research into all areas of epilepsy to find ways of giving people with it a better way of life.
This year on the 14/09/24 will mark his16th year anniversary. With your help, I will Make my tandem skydive on that day, and raise as much funds as possible to help this amazing charity. Any amount will help.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart just for reading this.
Love You Alfie. Xx
Although most people with epilepsy live long and healthy lives, epilepsy is one of the top-ten causes of early death. At SUDEP Action, we focus our efforts on providing tools to help keep people safe and on the priorities that bereaved families tell us are important: To prevent deaths; To be supported; To be involved.
We have won national and international honours for our achievements to date, but we recognise there is much more work to do, and this is why we need your donations. With your help we can strive to make a difference.
