Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 21st of April 2024 I will be running the London Marathon on behalf of Honeypot Children's Charity.

I became aware of this charity through my employer Neuberger Berman and had the honour of volunteering for Honeypot on the 1st of August this year. This was a very touching and humbling experience in which I saw first hand the unbelievable work which they do to help some amazing children.

Since 1996 Honeypot has been working to enhance the lives of young carers aged 5-12 years by providing respite breaks and on-going outreach support. In the UK nationwide, Honeypot gives young carers a break from demanding and stressful responsibilities at home and provides a safe, nurturing environment where children at risk can develop their full potential.

Very few services exist for young carers. Of the few organisations that do support young carers in the UK, Honeypot are the only service that offers consistent outreach support and respite breaks, to children between the ages of 5 and 12. Without Honeypot, many of these children would have nowhere else to turn: Since 2010 government funding to children’s services has fallen by a third. Currently, the support Honeypot gives young carers has never been more vital.

Those who know me will appreciate the love I have for running. That being said, I'm not quite so keen on the long solo training runs in the cold and wet, so any donations will be greatly appreciated and will provide me with greater motivation during these times. More importantly sponsoring me to run the London Marathon in 2024 you will help Honeypot to build brighter futures for young carers, and create happy childhood memories that they can cherish for a lifetime.
