COME A WEE DANDER WITH DAITHÍ
We are raising money for the amazing work undertaken by the Paediatric Critical Care Unit (PCCU) at the Royal London hospital. To mark Daithí reaching his first birthday, we will undertake a sponsored walk totalling the number of kilometres Daithí has travelled between hospitals! Please sponsor us.
This forms part of an annual effort to help the charities which supported us as a family when we needed it most (PCCU, the CATS and the Sick Children’s Trust. Donations can be made via our JustGiving Pages - Thank you in advance for your generosity.
OUR STORY
Daithí made an early appearance to the world at 36 weeks on the 11th August 2022 and & it was love at first sight. We were soon discharged home, but less than 24 hours later the unthinkable happened, Daithí became seriously unwell and was rushed to hospital.
Our wee man was left fighting for his life due to various serious medical issues. Daithí received life saving treatment on the PCCU at the Royal London and we are forever grateful for the quick thinking, tenacity and sheer skill of the staff working there. Daithí spent 21 nights in hospital, and for the next 6 months received twice daily injections at home, with an average of 1-3 hospital visits per week during this time.
Daithí has been through so much in his little life, and despite it all is a complete joy. He has come through every challenge and we are so proud of him - our warrior son. We cannot thank Barts Trust enough - especially the staff of the PCCU. We hope the funds raised as part of this fundraiser will go a long way to support other families on the ward.
THE CHALLENGE
Our fundraisers will be completing a WALKING CHALLENGE equaling the distance that we travelled between hospitals within those first 4 weeks (35km) or in total over the past year (195km). This will be undertaken in August & September - Daithí’s birthday & due date months!
