Story
It's a long story so I'll try and keep it brief....
In September 2023 I was diagnosed with a brain tumour. A grade 4 Astrocytoma to be exact.
After a few dizzy spells, some loss of vision and nasty headaches, the wonderful team at Frimley Park located a malignant tumour and cyst that combined, measured about 10x4cm. Nothing can prepare you for that horrible "C-word", but a week later I was on the operating table having it removed at St George's in London.
6 weeks of daily radiotherapy and chemotherapy later, and I'm doing well. No symptoms to speak of and am now 1 cycle down out of 6 chemotherapy cycles. My first post treatment scan looks good and I'm ready to fight this thing head on. It's still only the start of this journey, and unfortunately we know it will eventually start to regrow, but I'll be doing everything I can to slow it down in the meantime!
As part of that, me and a team of legends are taking part in the annual 10k Twilight Walk, organised by The Brain Tumour Charity, who are coincidentally based in Fleet (even more coincidentally in the office I used to work in!)
Brain cancer is the biggest killer of under 40s of all cancers, and has the highest average life expectancy reduction. Despite this it's still underfunded and under researched. Anything you can contribute to this worthy cause would be greatly appreciated 👍🏼
