Dan's LeJog ride for EGFR+

Dan Lewis is raising money for EGFR+

Lands End to John o'Groats · 30 May 2026

We are dedicated to supporting research and advocacy to change EGFR positive lung cancer into a chronic disease that can be managed long-term. We work to raise awareness of EGFR positive lung cancer and end the stigma associated with lung cancer. We know that anyone with lungs can get lung cancer.

Story

From the 29th May to the 12th June 2026, I’ll be cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats — roughly 1,000 miles the length of Britain — to raise money for the EGFR+ charity, who have supported my mum.

When mum was diagnosed, our family suddenly found ourselves dealing with a lot of uncertainty, medical jargon, and difficult decisions. EGFR+ charity has been a brilliant source of support, information and reassurance throughout. They help patients and families understand what’s happening, what the options are, and how to cope with it all — which makes a huge difference when everything feels overwhelming.

It turns out lung cancer doesn’t ask to see your smoking history before turning up. Anyone with lungs is technically eligible — which makes research and support for EGFR+ patients all the more vital. The stigma and assumptions don’t help, but good information and proper advocacy really do.

So I decided to do something helpful. Unfortunately, the only idea I came up with was cycling the entire length of the country.

Over 14 consecutive days, I’ll ride from Cornwall to the far north of Scotland, going via places like Glastonbury, the Welsh borders, the Lake District, Dumfries & Galloway, the Isle of Arran, Fort William and Inverness before the final push to John O’Groats. That means long days, plenty of hills, and the strong likelihood of being rained on in every county in Britain.

There will be sore legs, early starts, questionable ale choices, and at some point I will almost certainly wonder why I didn’t just host a quiz instead. But it’s nothing compared to what people living with cancer deal with every day — which is why I’m doing it.

If you’re able to donate, thank you — it genuinely helps EGFR+ continue supporting families like ours and providing the information and advocacy that matter so much.

And if you can’t donate, encouragement is also welcome. I’ll be the tired-looking cyclist heading north swearing about headwinds and hills.

Thanks very much for your support.
