Story
After being homeless for nearly 4 months and losing everything I'd ever owned and loved in 2020 my mental health was in bits I was extremely close to suicide, as I got close to the "do it day" I suddenly had this deep hard feeling inside me and my mind told me " NO, you need to give yourself 6 months to turn your life back around and if nothing changes in 6 months then you can give up but not before really really making it your mission to improve your life, body and mind".
The mental health improvement has in a massive part been from hiking and being outdoors and it having an amazing effect on my positivity and mental well being, two years on since those painful dark days my life has blown up and gone from strength to strength. I've made it my moral responsibility to help others where I can, coming up will be the third year I will be putting on Christmas Day hike for those who maybe dreading the Christmas period, although everyone is welcome you do not need to explain yourself and no questions will be asked. I do massive group hikes around 75-105 people every month all over the Peak District and this will be growing across another two national parks by the end of 2023.
I've decided after the huge response from BBC Breakfast, Go Outdoors, Blacks, Derbyshire Life Magazine and a great feature on the Laura and Becky Podcast just to name a few that this Christmas was going to be the biggest yet and I needed to take the opportunity to do more, I have teamed up with Go Outdoors and Blacks to raise funds for Mind Mental Health Charity on a national basis, mental health is such a huge part of these events and being able to collaborate with such huge companies really gives us the best chance to raise funds for a great cause and do more to raise awareness for these events and get the word out so I can help more people on Christmas
