Story
On July 6th I will be riding with my fellow Neuro UK fundraisers in the 2024 L'Etape du Tour, which, for those of you who do not know, is an amateur ride on one of the legs of the Tour de France. It starts in Nice and basically goes up into thw mountains. It will be 138km with 4,592m of climbing. 16,000 cyclist will start, less will finish. Its tough. But I'm attempting to complete it at the almost ancient age of 63, which is the new 62, I'm told.
Anyway, why? Because the charity Neuro UK is a progression from the work of Professor Sidney Watkins who for many years was the F1doctor, whilst holding down another job as a brain surgeon. Many lives were saved by his hard work and talents. His friend and colleague Peter Hamlyn has gone a step further by setting up Neuro UK. All you need to know about that is below and on the internet.
If you could help us help them and others then that would be fantastic.
Best wishes
Damon Hill OBE
11 million people in the UK are living with neurological conditions; our family members, friends, neighbours, colleagues and others we interact with every day of our lives.
Neuro UK is a campaign established by the Brain & Spine Foundation, bringing together support from across the neuro health sector and from individuals and organisations across society.
A primary aim of Neuro UK is to launch an Institute for Neuro Life Science at one of UK's leading universities which will measure and define optimised neurological care within the context of our NHS system.
