Saving Lives Through Your Support. Each life-saving mission costs £3,500 and on average, we are called to at least five emergencies everyday. It is only thanks to the generosity of the communities that we serve that we are able keep the Air Ambulance flying and saving lives.

Story

On 1st January 2021, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance saved my life after I had been run down by a speeding car.

Whilst out jogging, I was hit by a car doing 47mph in a 30mph zone, resulting in a vast amount of injuries, including a moderate to severe brain injury and a T11 complete spinal cord injury, paralysing me from the waist down.

Fortunately for me, when the 999 call came in, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance team were listening and knew they needed to attend. In the words of Doctor Bentley, I was seconds from dying when they arrived. If it were not for their experience, skills, and knowledge, I either would not be here today or my brain injury would have been much worse. Their treatment included 4 pints of blood, releasing my punctured lung and providing anesthetic all at the side of the road.

I owe my life to the entire team at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance: the doctor and paramedic who saved my life on that day, as well as everyone else in the team who made sure that was possible.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance are now fundraising to raise enough money to move their base to a more central location in Hampshire. This will have a huge impact on how long it takes the team to reach people in need, and when the air ambulance is needed, every second counts.

To give back to the team that saved my life, I am now teaming up with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance to ascend Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) in my mountain trike wheelchair.

We will be tackling a 9-mile journey up the Llanberis Path to reach the summit of Yr Wyddfa. This challenge will be a combined effort, with me pushing myself as much as I can and a team of three incredible people helping to push and pull me to the top. As well as a large support team to help make this all possible. The team from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance will make up a huge part of this amazing team.

I am incredibly excited to reach the summit of Yr Wyddfa for the first time since being injured, with the help and support of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance—the reason I get to do this at all.

Please support me in raising funds for this life-saving organization. Every contribution makes a difference and helps ensure the air ambulance team can continue their incredible work, saving lives like mine.
