Story
In August 2025 I will be volunteering in Kenya for 2 weeks with Play Action International, building playgrounds for the school children. Before I arrive I must reach my donation target in order to pay for the playground materials and other general charitable activities I will be helping with such as teaching and playing with the kids.
All of the money raised will be going directly towards helping these children. I will be covering my own expenses whilst volunteering (such as flights, food and accommodation) myself.
Why Play Action International?
Studies have shown that early play experiences improve a child’s physical growth, their capacity for learning, chances of finishing school, future employability, and even personal income. Play is so fundamental for children’s development, learning and wellbeing that it is enshrined in Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Yet for many children, their right to play and to reap the developmental advantages associated with play is challenged. This further exacerbates the disadvantage they experience and impacting their long-term potential. The World Health Organisation estimates that 250 million, or 43%, of children in low and middle income countries are unable to realise their full developmental potential. Through PAI’s early childhood development programmes and bespoke playground solutions, they support some of the most vulnerable communities in the world to adopt play based practices and enhance the lives of their children.
