Story
David and Julie Gale together with Julie Wootton are walking in aid of the Surrey Care Trust.
We have supported Surrey Care Trust for a number of years. They are a fabulous local charity that supports people who have been left behind in society. They do this through education, mentoring and training. You can find out more at their website https://www.surreycaretrust.org.uk.
Compared to the grinding struggle for those trapped in the cycle of disadvantage, our task is relatively simple. We shall walk 26 miles over the beautiful Surrey Hills taking in five peaks (including my Julie's particular favourite, Box Hill via the steep front side) as we go. In the process of this we shall include Headley Common and the general up and down in the Dorking area.
Please be as generous as you are able to support a truly worthy cause.
Surrey Care Trust say about themselves:
Our Vision: We are the local charity working with volunteers, to make Surrey a place where vulnerable people have the opportunities, skills and support they need to achieve their potential.
Our Mission: We are breaking the Cycle of Disadvantage in Surrey by equipping vulnerable people with the skills and confidence they need to change their lives, and their futures.
"My mentor has helped me feel more confident, be more motivated, achieve something I thought I wouldn't do, feel proud of myself, deal better with people."
