Story

On 5/11, The D Social year group will undertake a swimming challenge in support of the Commonwealth Education Trust.

Each boy will swim 123 lengths; the total covered will be equivalent to the distance between England and France.

CET

According to World Bank, learning poverty affects over 250 million children around the world, stifling their life chances. It is estimated that up to 80% of children in low-income countries remain unable to read and understand a simple text by the age of ten.

Everywhere, educators are challenged with overcrowded classes, poor infrastructure and teachers entering their classrooms with a lack of skills, resources and updated practices to provide children with a good education.

Teachers have more impact on learning outcomes than any other factor. That’s why we need to help teachers to teach better, so that children learn more and have a brighter future.

The CET’s mission

All children receive quality education from a transformative and supported teacher

To build in-service teacher capacity through our digital, high-impact programme and virtual community, to enrich both their lives and those of the children they teach

FIGHTING THE GLOBAL EDUCATION CRISIS

About the charity

The reality is that only 10% of children in low-income countries are able to read by the age of ten. We desperately need to support teachers’ development, which will improve children’s learning. We support teachers to provide children in lower-income countries with a better education.
