"Ilchokuti Challange" Sponsored Walk, 23 August 2024
GPS collars can give scientists important data on lion movements but can also be used as an early warning system for herders to help prevent incidents before they occur. Help us raise the funds required to purchase another collar for KopeLion!

Story

On Friday 23rd August the team at Cotswold Wildlife Park are taking part in the "Ilchokuti Challenge" after work, a 12.5km sponsored walk to raise money for the "Collar for Coexistence" project from Safina Lion Conservation Fund.

This is an incredibly exciting and ambitious project to raise £2,600 for a lion GPS collar. These are an important conservation tool to collect data on movements and behaviour but also allow teams on the ground to know the lions whereabouts and alert herders of their presence to try and prevent incidents and conflict before they occur to keep livestock and communities safe.
