The Low-Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer (LGSOC) Initiative has partnered with the University of Edinburgh to help fund transformational research into low-grade serous ovarian cancer.

Story

We (Lucie, Emma, Jack & Tom) will be running the Oslo Marathon on the 21st September in support of the Cure Our Ovarian Cancer charity.

In November 2022, our dear friend Nikki received the devastating news that she had been diagnosed with stage 3c low grade serous primary peritoneal cancer, a rare, complex, and under-researched form of ovarian cancer. Nikki endured numerous investigations and misdiagnoses before finally receiving this heart-breaking news. In February 2023, she underwent major abdominal surgery at St Mary's Hospital in Manchester to remove as much of the cancer as possible, before receiving several rounds of chemotherapy at The Christie.

Nikki's type of cancer is often resistant to treatment, yet she is fighting to do everything she can to prolong her life expectancy and improve her quality of life. Despite this fight, Nikki’s diagnosis remains life-changing and her cancer will remain incurable.

Our aim is to raise awareness of low-grade serous ovarian cancer (LGSOC), which disproportionately affects younger women like Nikki. We also hope to raise funds for the desperately needed research into LGSOC at the Edinburgh Cancer Research Centre via the Cure Our Ovarian Cancer charity.

We would be immensely grateful for any donations towards this cause.

Thank you for your support,

Lucie, Emma, Jack & Tom
