"Without education there is no hope, without hope there is no future" - David Rattray
Andrejs Krasko and Elvin Imanli - 2 colleagues from DHL Rugby Control Tower decided to challenge themselves in aid of great cause.
Both will cycle 500km during June 2023 to raise funds.
KHULA Education was established in 2007 to honour the memory of David Rattray and continue his legacy of responding to the monumental challenges faced by children in accessing a quality education in rural KwaZulu-Natal. KZN is one of South Africas most marginalized provinces, where more than half of local families regularly have to choose between food and other essentials and unemployment is at 80%.
South Africa is ranked by the World Bank as the most unequal country in the world, ahead of 161 countries including Congo and Iraq. In simple terms, this means that children, and especially black children, growing up in marginalized, rural parts of the country have much poorer life prospects; they're less likely to finish school, less likely to get a degree, and ultimately, less likely to secure a decent job.
KHULAs mission is to break this cycle through improving the quality of education children receive, from preschool through to graduation, as well as getting them ready for the world of work. Each year, we support 6,000 children and young people living in the communities around Rorkes Drift and Isandlwana. Learn more at:
