Story
This October, I'm walking 100 km with my dogs and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support. Your donation, big or small, makes a difference.
As most people know my mam has a form of Dementia called Lewy Body (LBD) its a progressive dementia, that results from protein deposits in nerve cells of brain. It affects movement, thinking skills, mood, memory, and behavior. Its robbed me and my brother of enjoying these last 4 years, as she steadily declines; whilst my dad carries on as her full time carer, with his reward in his eyes is a smile every now and then. The family supports him and my parents manage to get to the local pub for an Irish and Folk music session on the first Monday of every month which also keeps them going. Please dig deep as the funding is very special to most people.
Just £8 can cover the telephone costs for two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline.
£33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.
Thank you!
