Story
On 13 October I will be taking part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise money for Cure Parkinson’s.
I will be running for Andy Nicolson, my amazing, courageous father, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2015, as well as for everyone else affected by this condition.
One in 37 people alive today will be diagnosed with Parkinson’s at some point in their lives. It is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world.
There is currently no cure for Parkinson’s, nothing to stop the progression of the disease, and the drug currently most effective for masking the symptoms and giving some quality of life was discovered in the 1960s; long term use brings on severe side effects.
Everything Cure Parkinson’s do is to move us closer to the goal of finding new treatments to slow, stop or reverse the progression of Parkinson’s. Your donations and your involvement in research will lead to the breakthrough we all want to see.
Thank you so much for reading, and for your kind support.
