Story
Hi everyone! This year, I have decided to take part in the 16 days of active-ism to raise money for Glasgow Women's Aid - a charity that has been supporting women, children and young people who are or have experienced domestic abuse. I'm so grateful for any and all donations, no matter the amount. Times are hard right now, I understand, so anything you can spare will go a long way in helping the most vulnerable people in desperate situations this winter. Thank you for supporting me in the fight against gender-based violence. I'll be posting on my instagram and Facebook stories every day of the 16 days if you would like to keep up with me. (although I do work and have exams so bare with me on when i'll be posting)! Please read below about the work Glasgow Womens Aid do!
What is 16 Days of Activism?
The Global 16 Days of Activism Campaign was launched by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership (CWGL) in 1991. Feminists around the world mark the 16 days, run annually from November 25 (International Day Against Violence Against Women) to December 10 (International Human Rights Day) to call for the elimination of gender-based violence.
Glasgow Women's aid work from a feminist perspective which acknowledges that the root cause of the abuse of women and children is the imbalance of power which exists within our society and allows some people to have more power than others. They also use expert knowledge of domestic abuse to educate on related issues, support and campaign for equality. They provide information, support and safe temporary refuge accommodation, and offer support, advocacy and education services to the public, professionals and survivors.
