Story
Hello!
Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page for Weston Hospicecare. I am so delighted to be running the TCS LONDON MARATHON 2024! AHH. After 10 years of applying, it is a dream come true to get a place, and it's an honour to run for my local hospice in Weston Super Mare. I’m also going to be running the Bath Half Marathon in October 2023 and the Weston Half Marathton March 2024 as all part of the training for the London Marathon. Be sure to keep up to date with my training below on Strava!
I was lucky enough to get a ballot place in the marathon, however I chose Weston Hospicecare as my charity to run for as they hold a very special place in my local communities heart. The hospice looked after my own Grandad in his final days and supported many others dear to me and my loved ones. The hospice provides end of life care for people suffering from a life limiting illness. What the nurses and staff provide is something extraordinary and I want to give something back to them. The NHS covers only 20% of the funding (1 bed), meaning the hospice relies heavily on its volunteers, shops and fundraisers to enable them to continue to provide this much-needed care totally free of charge. The hospice has 10 bedroom inpatient units, along with a day and wellbeing centre.
So please, give anything that you can. It would mean the world to me and to the hospice, their patients and families.
Again, thank you so much for visiting my page, for supporting the hospice and for supporting me on the biggest race I will ever run!

"Receiving an end-of-life diagnosis can be difficult, not just for the patient but also for their loved ones. At Weston Hospicecare, our team of palliative care experts is dedicated to working together to provide specialist support. Our social, emotional, psychological, spiritual and physical care helps guide people through one of the most difficult experiences they will ever face. With only 20% of our funding coming from the NHS, we have to raise £4 million each year to fund our care - something that's only made possible by our community."
