Story
Team Endocrine work together on a unit looking after people with pituitary conditions. On the 9th June we will be trekking to the top of Snowdon to raise funds for the pituitary foundation.
Why?
The pituitary foundation and their team offer practical, emotional and peer support to anyone affected by a pituitary condition. Their resources are reliant on charitable funding. As there is not much awareness of what the pituitary gland is and its related disorders it can be hard to secure charitable funding.
As an Endocrine team everyday we see the impact that pituitary disorders have on peoples lives. We want to do something to support this amazing resource, so they can continue to provide life saving information and vital support to patients.
Please support us in raising funds, all donations no matter how big or small are appreciated 🙏
What is the pituitary gland?
The pituitary gland is a small but vital organ. It secretes hormones which are chemical messenger’s telling the body what to do.
Sometimes people have trouble with their pituitary gland over or under secreting hormone’s.
This is usually caused by a tumour or adenoma developing and can cause various conditions such as cushings, adrenal insufficiency, acromegaly and Hypopituitarism to name a few.
