Multiple Events Fundraiser for Motor Neurone Disease Association on behalf of Corinne Watson

Multiple Events
In November 2022, at the age of just 42, our sister-in-law Corinne was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.
Six people are diagnosed every day in the UK with MND, and there is no treatment and no known cure.
We are going to be taking on various challenges throughout 2023 to fundraise for the MNDA, and to raise awareness of this cruel condition, in the aim that a cure WILL be found.
The challenges that we will be taking on in support of this aim are listed below, and many other family members and friends will be joining in with their own challenges throughout the year.
Corinne is planning her own challenge too, which will reflect her love of walking the fells!
The MNDA focuses on improving access to care, funding research and campaigning for people like Corinne, her husband Paul, and their children Lucas & Leo who are affected by the immeasurable impact MND has on their lives.
Thank you,
Chris, Rich, Liz & Jo
A huge thanks to Alison Hatcher, Joanne Palmer & Amy Emmott for taking on this challenge!
Fun fundraising events hosted at Chance Camp - see www.chancecamp.co.uk
Martin Potter will be running this 96 mile route, self supported!
A group of Corinne & Paul’s friends have set themselves the challenge of collectively spinning the distance from Cockermouth to London in one day at Cockermouth Leisure Centre. People are welcome to join in logging their bike miles! A huge thanks to the team at Better for their support. The Leisure Centre will also be holding a raffle in support of the MNDA.

Eleanor Farrell is taking on the challenge of a half marathon in support of the MNDA.
Izzie Watson, Corinne’s niece, has set herself this target for the year!
Sarah Little, one of Corinne’s work colleagues, will be tackling this challenge.
To round off the fundraising efforts over 2023, Paul, Chris and Rich along with Mark Sarrington, Paul Skelton and Tony Calvin (and any others who want to join!) will be taking part in the annual New Years Eve dip on the Golden Sands opposite the Beacon in Whitehaven. This event is run by the Golden Sands Polar Bear Club (more info can be found on facebook) as a fundraising event and a bit of ‘fun’. All entrants raise money for their individual charities. The water time this year is 11am. Workington Lifeboat and the Coast Guard provide in the water safety support, and TV crews are often in attendance. The Beacon offer facilities for changing and provide hot drinks after the event to participants.
Susan Fawkes is taking on this epic challenge - a non-stop, 160 mile race along the Pennine Way from Hardraw in North Yorkshire to Kirk Yetholm in the Scottish Borders.
Beginning from Hardraw in North Yorkshire, runners have a time limit of 108 hours to get to the finish line at the infamous village of Kirk Yetholm in the Scottish Borders. The trail crosses some of the most beautiful but difficult terrains in Britain including; the Yorkshire Dales, Northumberland National Park, Hadrian’s Wall, and the Cheviots. This is one of the most physically and mentally demanding races out there, made even tougher by the ferocity and intensity of the British weather!
