Story
For Safeline's 30th anniversary we are doing something big!
I am joining Councillor Becky Noonan in taking on 30 challenges in 30 weeks for Safeline's 30th Anniversary.
Why?
Nearly 1 in 4 rape victims are girls under 16.
1 in 6 men experience sexual violence - 92% of which never disclose.
80% of referrals to Safeline are from people who have suicidal thoughts or have attempted suicide.
Sexual violence is not just something you hear about on the news. It is one of the biggest public health crisis' our country faces. I have been affected by it. My family has been affected by it. My friends have been affected by it. Sexual violence is a very real, very traumatic crime that changes the lives of victims/survivors completely.
Safeline exists to help victims/survivors to rediscover who they are outside of their trauma. The services provided are essential to helping them to recover, seek justice, and prevent re-experiencing the harm all over again. That is why I am supporting Safeline in its 30th year. Victims/Survivors deserve support. They deserve to live their lives again.
