Story
I thought attempting the “world's greatest hike” to the lost city of Peru’s Machu Picchu, along the trail of The Incas, was out of my league and indeed it might be But does that mean I shouldn’t try ?
I need to see the spectacular sights, feel the spiritual atmosphere, touch the relics and walk the historic paths that wind through the snow-capped Andes Mountains thsy crash into the lush high jungle of the Amazon basin.
All sounds so dreamy and idyllic, doesn’t it ? However the reality is knowing that I have to worry about travel, prosthetics, sores, mobility, heat, cold, altitude, my meds, my failing kidneys and roughing it day & night! 😬
Just to be able to do something everyone expects me not to be able to and to feel the sense of really living life, despite the issues is massive to me, though. Add to that I’m raising money for my amputee friends who are now family and making their lives better is a huge incentive to get there and show them it can be done.
