This is my why…

My Dad was diagnosed with breast cancer (yes, that’s right - my Dad - guys, you need to check your chests too) and promptly underwent a mastectomy. Further investigation showed that my Dad had the BRCA 2 gene mutation, which puts you at a higher risk of certain cancers (breast, ovarian, pancreatic & prostate), of which he is already fighting.

With a 50% chance of passing the gene on to your children, my siblings & I were tested. After an anxious wait, my Sister had the news that she had tested positive. This gives her an 80% chance of developing breast cancer over the coming years. I decided to focus my energy on how I could help, albeit in a small way.

So, here I am! Better start training.
