Conor’s Margate to Belfast Run

Conor Bird is raising money for Pilgrims Hospices In East Kent
In memory of Barbara Bird

Margate to Belfast Run · 22 October 2025

Pilgrims Hospices is a charity providing palliative care, free of charge, to people in east Kent. For people with a range of life-limiting illnesses, specialist services are provided from our three hospices in Canterbury, Ashford and Thanet, in patients' homes and via community programmes.

Story

Thanks for visiting my page. I’m running from Margate to Belfast, in memory of my mum Barbara Bird who passed away 10 years ago this year from Lymphatic Cancer.

The challenge I’m undertaking is to run 30+ miles a day, from Pilgrims Hospice Margate where she was cared for. In order to arrive in at my Mum’s childhood home in Belfast on 2nd November 2025.

A date that will be 10 years to the day from Mum’s passing.

This is going to be no easy feat as I’m not an athlete and I’m a full time Dad, Husband and Plumber. However, watching Mum fight cancer like she did will give me all the motivation to get this challenge done!

All donations made will be going to Pilgrims Hospice East Kent, who took such great care of my Mum in her time of need.

Cancer now affects 1 in 2 people and places like Pilgrims are absolutely vital in offering care to people battling cancer.

Any donations will be greatly appreciated!

Conor

PS.

For any sponsorship enquiries please email margatetobelfast@hotmail.com and get in contact. This will massively help because, as it currently stands I am self funding the challenge and any sponsorship would go a long way!

Thanks again!
