Ironman Challenge in Memory of Harry Kennington
On Sunday, 6th October, I'll be pushing my limits in an Ironman event to honour the memory of Harry Kennington and support The Rosemary Foundation. This journey began with a friendly bet during Covid lockdowns - I managed a half last year, then put on nearly 3 stone in 6 months due to enjoying life and a broken bike! I signed up for this event knowing I always need a challenge to focus on. The event is 140.6 miles in total; comprising of a 2.4 mile swim in the sea, 112 miles on the bike, finishing with a marathon (26.2 miles).
Harry Kennington, the son of our dear friends, lost his brave battle with cancer last year in his early 20s. In the months before his passing, I had the privilege of getting to know Harry as he created lasting memories with his loved ones. His courage and spirit continue to inspire us all.
The Rosemary Foundation provided invaluable hospice at-home service for Harry and continues to support children and adults in similar situations. This remarkable organisation relies entirely on donations and the dedication of volunteers. By participating in this Ironman, I aim to raise both funds and awareness for these unsung heroes who offer comfort and support to families during their most challenging times.
Your donation, no matter the size, will make a significant difference. It will not only help me push through the gruelling Ironman course but, more importantly, it will contribute to the vital work of The Rosemary Foundation. Together, we can ensure that more families receive the care and support they need during difficult times.
As ever, my training hasn't gone entirely to plan. I feel I haven't done enough, but I know I will get through it with your help on the day! Please give what you can to support this cause and help me through this event on Sunday, 6th October.
