Story
I am raising money for One Is Too Many because I’ve personally experienced the devastating impact of suicide and the struggles that veterans face after leaving the armed forces. My father, a dedicated serviceman, tragically took his own life after he retired from the military, and it’s something that has deeply affected me. Veterans often face immense challenges transitioning back into civilian life, particularly when it comes to finding meaningful employment. The loss of purpose, combined with mental health issues, can make this transition incredibly difficult, and sadly, too many veterans feel like they have nowhere to turn.
One Is Too Many is a charity dedicated to addressing this very issue by providing support, awareness, and assistance to those who have served and now find themselves struggling. Their work is crucial, as they aim to reduce the stigma around mental health and suicide while helping veterans reintegrate into society, offering job support and mental health resources. Every donation helps them continue their vital work and can make a real difference in preventing other families from experiencing the same heartbreaking loss that mine has.
By taking part in this Boxing Day dip, I hope to raise awareness and funds to ensure that no veteran feels alone or without hope, because even one life lost is one too many.
