We provide end of life care to help our patients across Dorset

Story

I'm going to be walking 100KM (62 Miles) of Dorset's Jurassic Coast over the course of two days and I'll be fund-raising for the Dorset based Weldmar Hospicecare.

In May 2023 my Step-Father Mark Cheffey was diagnosed with an inoperable Glioblastoma Multiforme (Stage 4 cancerous Brain Tumour). His health has seriously declined since then and he is currently being cared for at the Weldmar Hospice facility in our hometown of Dorchester.

I first visited Weldmar to see Mark on New Year's Eve. I was immediately struck by the environment of excellence and care that Weldmar provides to both patients and also their families.

With a New Year approaching I felt galvanised with a determination to do something pro-active and challenging while also doing something that could help a cause as worthy as Weldmar.

Only 20% of Weldmar's funding is provided by the NHS, the rest is made up from charitable donations. If you're able to donate even a small amount I would be enormously grateful.

Thanks for reading.

Connor.

The following taken from Weldmar's Official site;

"Weldmar Hospicecare provides specialist end of life care to patients in Dorset, and support to their loved ones. This care is given in the comfort of patients’ homes by Weldmar Community Nurses and Weldmar at Home Team, via Day Services across the county, or at our Inpatient Unit in Dorchester."
