Story

Hi all and welcome to my fundraising page for St Johns Ambulance.

I have made the mad decision to run the London Marathon next year in memory of my Nan, who sadly passed away in February of this year, rather unexpectedly. For those of you that know me or follow me on social media, my Nan was an amazing, generous, wise and much loved human being and someone that I was incredibly close to. We used to do so much together, whether that be a weekly Sunday coffee, a trip to Home Bargains and the occasional trip to the Zoo or Airshow.

I am raising money for St Johns Ambulance as they were nothing short of fantastic with my Nan in her final days. On a normal Wednesday in February, Nan became ill in her home and 111 were called where the ambulance staff attended and recommended a trip to the Hospital, something that Nan was always adamant that she wouldn't ever do, given her genuine fear for hospitals due to the previous loss of my Grandad and Aunt in hospital. Without their recommendation and persistence, we wouldn't ohaveseen her again, and for this I will forever be grateful. My family got to spend the next 2 days with her in hospital by her side, sharing laughs, jokes and general day to day chat, until she very sadly passed away the following morning, satisfied that her remaining hours on earth were shared with her loved ones.

Having the opportunity to raise a little money for such an amazing charity and one that have no doubt helped almost everyone's loved ones at some point in time, is something that I am really looking forward to doing and I hope to smash the target!

I am someone that likes a beer or two and a decent takeaway, so training for this will inevitably come with sacrifices and many, many miles of hard graft on the road to get myself fit enough, to complete in a time that I will be satisfied with. I have always had a seriously dislike to long distance running, so this should be fun!

I do fully appreciate that times are hard for everyone currently, but I will forever be grateful for any donations for such a great charity, no matter how big or small.

Many thanks for reading.

Connor :)
